“Our nationally-representative research involving US middle and high schoolers has identified that only 13% of targeted youth report being cyberbullied to the school. A reason frequently cited is that educators are not in a position to do anything about it. Instagram’s new School Partnership program changes that. This system will now fast-track solutions that students and educators want to see.”

- Sameer Hinduja, PhD, Co-director, Cyberbullying Research Center

“Within the first week of partnering with Instagram, we saw bullying and harassing posts and profiles taken down. Their prioritizing of verified school accounts and speedy response supports schools in reducing student anxiety and increasing student safety. They’re also focused on prevention, with lots of resources for students and families to support a safe social media experience.”

- D.J. Ashford, Studio Art and Media Teacher, LEA Representative, Muwekma Ohlone Middle School

“Education leaders have made it clear that they need more control over social media in order to ensure a healthy digital culture in their schools. We’re excited that, now, school reports will be heard and acted upon in a timely and purposeful way.”

- Richard Culatta, CEO of ISTE+ASCD

Please sign up with an official school or district account managed by an administrator, not a personal account or account managed by students.

Yes, if there are multiple official school or district accounts managed by an administrator representing the same school, more than one account is eligible to become a school partner.

Once you have verified your official school account, that account will be considered an Instagram school partner. The reports this account submits to Instagram will be prioritized for review. Learn more about how Meta enforces our policies here.

Using a combination of user reports and technology, we find and remove inappropriate content that goes against our Community Standards. We have teams reviewing reports 24/7 in more than 50 languages. The reports we receive from school partners will be expedited through this process, to ensure they are quickly reviewed and actioned on.

Meta’s Community Standards outline what is and isn’t allowed on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads, and we have specific policies around Bullying & Harassment and Hatespeech/Hateful Conduct. In addition, we have additional protections in place to ensure teens see age appropriate content.

You can report inappropriate posts, comments or people that aren't following our Community Standards or Terms of Use right when you see them, by using our built-in reporting features. Full list of report types here.

If an account is established with the intent of bullying or harassing another person or if a post or comment is intended to bully or harass someone, please report it directly in the Instagram app by following these instructions.

At Meta, we take bullying and harassment situations seriously. Bullying and harassment is a unique challenge and one of the most complex issues to address because context is critical. We work hard to enforce against this content while also equipping our community with tools to protect themselves in ways that work best for them. We're always creating new resources and tools, and revising policies with expert help to continually tackle the issue. To learn more visit the Bullying & Harassment Hub.

In the coming months we will provide an option for school partners to remove their verification status should they wish to verify a different account.
