5 tips for Microsoft OneDrive

Looking for a place to store your Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents? Make OneDrive the home for your files, including photos and other documents you want to access securely. Optimise your use of the app on iOS with these tips.

Sign important documents

Whether it’s a contract, an agreement or any other PDF that requires a signature, you can use OneDrive to make it official.

Where to find it: Open the PDF in the app and tap Annotate at the bottom. Then tap the three dots in the top right to add your signature.


Share documents with others

You can share files and folders with OneDrive. With a unique link, friends or colleagues can view, download and edit documents. Your recipient doesn’t need a Microsoft account, they can make changes from their browser.

Where to find it: On the Files tab, tap the three dots and select Share, then copy the link and send it to your desired recipients.


Set an expiry date for shared documents

To make a document available for a fixed period of time, add an expiry date.

Where to find it: On the Files tab, tap the three dots and select Share, then adjust the Link Settings to your requirements.


Set a password to access the app

Prevent others who are using your device from accessing the OneDrive app and your data by setting a password.

Where to find it: Tap your profile in the top left-hand corner, select Settings > Passcode. You can choose to unlock the app with Face ID.


Create a Personal Vault

Add an additional layer of security to important documents by using your Personal Vault. This folder requires a PIN code and locks automatically after three minutes of inactivity. It can be used to protect your personal data, such as the scan of your passport or driving licence.

Where to find it: Tap Personal Vault on the Files tab. After completing the identification steps, you can set a PIN code. You can choose to unlock your Personal Vault with Face ID.
