Today, we’re announcing our partnership with Shopify to bring Liquid Foundation Models (LFMs) to core commerce experiences. Shopify will license LFMs to enhance search and recommendations, improving relevance, conversions, and customer experience at scale. The first production deployment is a sub‑20ms LFM that enhances search. Shopify and Liquid have also co-developed a generative recommender model with a novel HSTU architecture. In controlled tests, the model beat the previous stack, leading to higher conversion rates from recommendations. What does it take to win Black Friday weekend? We analyzed data from 18,000 shoppers to find out. → Shoppers plan to spend more this Black Friday weekend—up from $155 in 2024 to $192 in 2025. But this isn’t about impulse buying; 51% are setting spending limits, and 23% intend to be stricter with their budgets. → Shoppers are turning to AI for inspiration, with 64% planning to use AI for at least one holiday shopping task. This jumps to 84% among Gen Z. → In-store discovery is up. 43% say they’re more likely than a year ago to discover products in store, while 44% prefer to buy small items online and make larger purchases in store. → More than 1 in 5 shoppers choose brands that reflect their values, and nearly a third prioritize supporting local businesses. The perks that keep customers coming back: discounts (49%), free shipping and returns (41%), and loyalty programs (29%).
