[Al_Abut] “Discord is Vegasy” 😆

[Al_Abut] Nailed it
#
[Al_Abut] I played a lot of poker for like 15 years and learned to walk past all the jingle jangle to get to the quiet skill-based section just for poker. It’s like finding the hidden library room in a warehouse rave.

[Al_Abut] I do want to but not sure how my hotspot will perform, now that it’s being throttled. I’ll give it a try in a minute, I’m almost at a good break point for my project.

kepeken is there an index of vps hosts that's not seoed beyond the point of usefulness?
#
kepeken like this https://diskprices.com/ but for vps
#
kepeken ok sure vps stands for virtual private server.
#
kepeken if anyone would like to share something feel free to ping me in the other channel
#
ulhar4409 [snarfed] now i'm imagining commissioning/drawing a bunch of emoji featuring my various forms, haha
#
ulhar4409 then a post's avatar coukd be the most popular "form" represented by the emoji in that post, or if the post features art of a form, that form gets to be the avatar
#
ulhar4409 latter could probably be attached to particular "categories" on the post and is probably most feasible with my current budget anyhow

someoneplayedthis Hi all! After noticing yet another new backlink from indieweb (thank you, Tantek!), and noticing Tantek had even presented my Susty Icons at a recent meetup (!!!), I thought I should look a bit closer - and then worked out this isn't some elite community and I can just sign up. So you know, hi!

someoneplayedthis I'm planning some sort of Launch and Learn event in the new year. It's really amazing to see people react so positively to Tantek's introduction to the project!

someoneplayedthis To answer one of the questions on the stream:
#
someoneplayedthis I'm considering adding a Notes section to the JSON that populates the DOM, and I'd probably add the carbon cost on a large website versus FontAwesome or similar. I made a tool to do the measurements in full now, including rendering impact, which also came up. That's one way I'd hope to make it more tangible.

#
someoneplayedthis The site also uses progressive disclosure, incidentally, triggered by human presence. The vertical height hides that from the user. Or it hopefully should do!

#
someoneplayedthis Anyway, I look forward to seeing what people discuss here.

[morgan] Hello Rose, it feels like our Internet is very small and we are on a small 🏝️ island somehow. It's Morgan here - I actually showed susty icons on a call earlier today of Indieweb people and now you are here welcome
#
[morgan] This channel is the big room where people mainly discuss joining the group or updates to personal websites or related Indieweb announcement stuff and other stuff too
#
[morgan] Definitely check out the other channels for more specific chat too
#
[morgan] Definitely a lot of the fun happens on the zoom calls which are organized in #indieweb-events and on the website such as the homebrew website club and front end study hall groups
#
someoneplayedthis Thanks for the summary!
#
[morgan] I think also you will really appreciate the international fabric of the community here across Europe and other places , I guess similar to the nice aspects of the W3C
#
someoneplayedthis Sounds good. 🙂 And thanks for sharing them, again. People here will know my icons before they know me! How quirky. 😄

#
[jeremycherfas] Thanks [Al_Abut] I feel like I have only just begun, and that’s exciting.
#
[jeremycherfas] I can also imagine eventually migrating my main site from Grav to Hugo maybe.
#
[Al_Abut] Interesting. Tell me more about your experience with Hugo? I’ve never used it, I’ve only heard good things though.

#
[jeremycherfas] My experience is all in that post :)
#
[jeremycherfas] Seriously, I installed it for Berlin, did a bit with it then, and then spent a bit more time this week. The overall structure though seems very similar to Grav. Front matter, content, partial templates, pipelines, etc.
#
[jeremycherfas] And to be honest, the tiny bit of interaction I get directly on the Grav site means pure static could be attractive.
