🎓 Magnet Thursday Tours at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions
Thinking about joining the DeBakey HSHP family? There’s no better way to get
a feel for our school than by seeing it in action. We’d be thrilled to welcome you
for a tour, introduce you to our community, and answer any questions you may
have along the way.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing more about what makes
DeBakey High School an exceptional place for learning.
Our Magnet Thursday Tours offer a chance to experience our campus, learn
more about our program, and ask questions directly to staff and students.
🗓️ Tentative Tour Schedule
Magnet Thursday Tours are held on select Thursdays during the application window.
Each tour begins at 1:00 PM and lasts approximately 90 minutes.

A guided tour of our campus

A detailed presentation about DeBakey’s academic and health science programs

A student panel featuring current DeBakey students

A Q&A session with school staff and ambassadors
Tours start right on time, so we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to check in at the front office.
👥 Who Should Attend

Current 7th and 8th grade students interested in applying to DeBakey

Parents and guardians should attend

Please limit your party to immediate family members if possible, due to space constraints
🚗 Parking & Check-In

Visitor parking is available in the front parking lot

Enter through the black gate on Pressler Street between Holcombe and Main.

All visitors must present a valid ID at check-in

Make sure to arrive at least 5-10 minutes early to check in at the front office.

The Phase 1 application window for incoming 9th graders applying for the 2026-2027 academic year is December 9, 2025 – February 27, 2026.

Submitting an application early does not provide any advantage. All eligible Phase 1 applications received within the Phase I application window are reviewed equally. Review our detailed application process here:

Admissions priority is extended to applicants who:

Will have a sibling concurrently enrolled at DeBakey HSHP

Reside within the boundaries of Houston ISD at the time of application
-

Only students who reside within the Houston ISD attendance boundaries are eligible to enroll in and attend HISD public high schools, including DeBakey High School for Health Professions.
