Overview
The mission of the External Funding Titles I, II & IV Department is to support schools by providing opportunities for all children to acquire the knowledge and skills contained in challenging state content and performance standards. This mission includes supplementing academic areas, especially in reading and mathematics; promoting schoolwide reform; increasing staff development opportunities; distributing resources to areas and campuses where needs are the greatest; affording parents meaningful opportunities to participate in their children's education; and aligning the schools' instructional efforts with those of the state and district.
All department efforts ensure that support is provided for schools and students with the greatest need and that the school district remains in compliance with fiscal and programmatic regulations. See the resource links below for additional information.
Parent and Family Engagement Policy
Welcome parents! Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement affords parents meaningful opportunities to participate in their children's education. Title I resources support activities of the district’s Family and Community Engagement Department (FACE) in building capacity for effective parental involvement, which includes training parents on how to work with their children to improve academically and training to improve their own literacy and parenting skills. For additional information, contact External Funding (713-556-6928 or email Ext.Funding@HoustonISD.org) or the FACE department (FACE@HoustonISD.org).
School-Parent Compact
Frost Elementary School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.
