2025-07-01odb: rename `oid_object_info()`Patrick Steinhardt1-1/+1
Rename `oid_object_info()` to `odb_read_object_info()` as well as their `_extended()` variant to match other functions related to the object database and our modern coding guidelines. Introduce compatibility wrappers so that any in-flight topics will continue to compile. Signed-off-by: Patrick Steinhardt <ps@pks.im> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2025-07-01object-store: rename files to "odb.{c,h}"Patrick Steinhardt1-1/+1
In the preceding commits we have renamed the structures contained in "object-store.h" to `struct object_database` and `struct odb_backend`. As such, the code files "object-store.{c,h}" are confusingly named now. Rename them to "odb.{c,h}" accordingly. 2025-04-15object-store: merge "object-store-ll.h" and "object-store.h"Patrick Steinhardt1-1/+1
The "object-store-ll.h" header has been introduced to keep transitive header dependendcies and compile times at bay. Now that we have created a new "object-store.c" file though we can easily move the last remaining additional bit of "object-store.h", the `odb_path_map`, out of the header. Do so. As the "object-store.h" header is now equivalent to its low-level alternative we drop the latter and inline it into the former. 2024-09-30t/helper: fix leaking repository in partial-clone helperPatrick Steinhardt1-0/+2
We initialize but never clear a repository in the partial-clone test helper. Plug this leak. Signed-off-by: Patrick Steinhardt <ps@pks.im> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2024-06-14t/helper: use correct object hash in partial-clone helperPatrick Steinhardt1-1/+1
The `object_info()` function of the partial-clone helper is responsible for checking the object ID of a repository other than `the_repository`. We use `parse_oid_hex()` in this function though, which means that we still depend on `the_repository->hash_algo`. Fix this by using the object hash of the function-local repository. 2023-06-21object-store-ll.h: split this header out of object-store.hElijah Newren1-1/+1
The vast majority of files including object-store.h did not need dir.h nor khash.h. Split the header into two files, and let most just depend upon object-store-ll.h, while letting the two callers that need it depend on the full object-store.h. After this patch: $ git grep -h include..object-store | sort | uniq -c 2 #include "object-store.h" 129 #include "object-store-ll.h" Diff best viewed with `--color-moved`. 2023-03-21treewide: remove cache.h inclusion due to setup.h changesElijah Newren1-2/+1
By moving several declarations to setup.h, the previous patch made it possible to remove the include of cache.h in several source files. Do so. Signed-off-by: Elijah Newren <newren@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>

2021-06-28promisor-remote: teach lazy-fetch in any repoJonathan Tan1-0/+43
This is one step towards supporting partial clone submodules. Even after this patch, we will still lack partial clone submodules support, primarily because a lot of Git code that accesses submodule objects does so by adding their object stores as alternates, meaning that any lazy fetches that would occur in the submodule would be done based on the config of the superproject, not of the submodule. This also prevents testing of the functionality in this patch by user-facing commands. So for now, test this mechanism using a test helper. Besides that, there is some code that uses the wrapper functions like has_promisor_remote(). Those will need to be checked to see if they could support the non-wrapper functions instead (and thus support any repository, not just the_repository).
