Our Athletics & Extracurriculars

Students Interested in Athletics & Extracurriculars

Harper DAEP does not currently offer athletic or extracurricular activities for enrolled students. However, we strongly encourage students to explore and plan for the activities they may wish to join upon returning to their home campus. The majority of HISD high schools offer a wide variety of options for student involvement.

Students who are interested in extracurricular or athletic opportunities during their time at Harper are welcome to discuss their interests with one of our counselors. While formal participation is not available on the Harper campus, our staff is here to support students in preparing for future involvement.

Participation in athletics and extracurricular activities offers numerous benefits, including improved physical health, enhanced teamwork and leadership skills, and increased self-esteem. Involvement can also contribute to better academic performance, stronger social connections, and expanded opportunities for college and career readiness.

Examples of Athletic and Extracurricular Activities at HISD High Schools:

  • Team Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball, Wrestling

  • Academic Clubs: Chess, Debate, Environmental Club, Astronomy Club, French Club, Robotics

  • Performing Arts: Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theatre, Dance

  • Leadership & Service: National Honor Society, Student Council, JROTC

  • Special Interest Clubs: Anime Club, Gaming Club, Cultural Clubs

For more information about the specific opportunities available at each HISD High School, please contact your student’s home school directly.

Note: Currently Enrolled Students at DAEP are limited in their participation in athletic & extracurricular activities during their DAEP placement, however, we encourage students to get involved upon their return to their home campus.
