School History
John R. Harris Elementary located in Houston, Texas, in the Manchester area has a history rooted in the former Harrisburg School, which was established in 1895. The current facility was built in 1958, replacing the original building. The school was later named in honor of John R. Harris, a figure significant to the region's history. His grandfather was one of the original settlers of Harrisburg (now part of Houston), and his namesake is also shared with John R. Harris Elementary.
