School History

Opened in 1958 as Richmond Elementary School, this campus was renamed in honor of Ila E. McNamara, the school’s first principal (1958–1979).

McNamara Elementary is proud to be a vibrant and welcoming school community serving over 920 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Our school is a true reflection of the world, with students and staff representing a rich blend of cultures and over 20 different languages spoken across our campus.

What makes McNamara truly special is more than just our diversity—it's the kindness, care, and connection that define our school culture. From the moment you walk through our doors, you'll feel the sense of belonging that makes our school a second home for so many.

At McNamara, every child is celebrated, every voice is valued, and every day is a chance to learn, grow, and thrive—together.
