School History

Shadydale Elementary School is one of seven campuses annexed by HISD in the summer of 2013, after North Forest ISD was dissolved by the Texas Education Agency. It was built in 2000, Shadydale Elementary was originally part of the now-defunct North Forest Independent School District (NFISD). On July 1, 2013, NFISD was officially merged into Houston Independent School District (HISD), bringing Shadydale under HISD governance.

Shadydale sits in the north east Houston area, formerly served by NFISD, which dealt with structural and socioeconomic challenges leading to its takeover by HISD. Many schools in this region—including Shadydale—reflect the complexities of urban education in under-resourced communities, such as high needs for multilingual support and economic assistance.

Today Shadydale has adopted the NES curriculum. Under the leadership of  our principal, Dr. Kimberly Stormer, the school fervently serves the north east Houston community by the NES standard. Our student body is enriched in academia making the efficient in Math, Science and Fine Arts.
