Gemini is replacing Google Assistant on most mobile devices. Learn more about what you can do with Gemini, privacyprotection of minorsand availability for supported devices, languages and territories. Gemini will understand the same commands as Google Assistant and also give you the option to speak naturally. Google Assistant is still available for use until March 2026.
 

You can listen to media such as music and podcasts through your car's speakers with Android Auto.

To use media apps in your car, your apps must be compatible with Android Auto. Learn how to download compatible apps.

To use any app, make sure you're signed into that app on your phone before you start Android Auto. You may need a subscription or premium account to use some apps. For more information or to troubleshoot apps, visit the app’s website or contact the app developer directly

Listen to media with voice commands

  1. Say "Hey Google" or select the microphone Microphone.
  2. Say what you'd like to do.

You can speak naturally and be understood when you talk to Gemini.

You can also use regular voice commands with Gemini or Google Assistant:

  • "Play my [playlist name] playlist on Spotify."
  • "Play [song name] on Amazon Music."
  • "Play house music on Pandora."
  • "Play [artist] on YouTube Music."
  • "Play [podcast name]."

Listen to media with the display

  1. On your car display, tap the app launcher .
  2. Select a media app to browse and listen.

You can also quickly access your most recently used media app from the recent apps area on your car's display.
