Important: This feature is currently only available on Google Pixel Watch 4 paired with a phone running Android version 16.
Your Pixel Watch 4 now offers Real-Time Sync (RTS) when you record a bike ride on the Fitbit app. This lets you monitor your cycling metrics like distance, heart rate, speed, elevation gain, and duration in real-time by streaming your cycling data from your Pixel Watch 4 to your Fitbit app.
Set up Bike RTS
Important: You can’t control RTS settings from the Fitbit phone app.
The first time you open the cycling workout, you get an introductory screen. This explains the feature and appears only once, regardless of whether you confirm it or swipe away. You can manage Bike RTS settings on your Pixel Watch 4 under bike settings.
Tip: If your phone and watch are disconnected, the RTS option is disabled.
Start, pause, or end a bike session
You can start your cycling workout from your Pixel Watch 4.
- Open the Fitbit Exercise app
.
- Tap Bike
Play
.
After you start, a notification appears on your Android phone which displays the workout information like distance, duration, and heart rate. The Fitbit app opens when you tap the notification.
You can pause or end a bike session from your Pixel Watch 4 or phone. Both your devices reflect these actions. Once you end a session, a post workout summary appears on your watch. If you end on your watch, it provides immediate feedback.
Check your post workout summary
After a ride, review your workout performance summary either on your watch or in the Fitbit app. This summary provides a breakdown of key metrics that you can tap or filter to explore in more detail, which include:
- Cardio load
- General stats, such as elapsed time, heart rate, calories burned, and elevation change
- Heart rate details, such as active zone minutes and time spent in each heart rate zone
To check a summary from the Fitbit app on your phone:
- From the Today tab
under Activity, tap the ride you want to check.
Stop & resume streaming
To resume, tap the ongoing notification on the phone to get real-time metrics again. If you open the Fitbit app during data streaming, it takes you directly to the cycling display. This won’t happen when you stop the display of the metrics or you disable the feature in watch settings.
Handle connection loss
If the connection is interrupted, your watch continues tracking. The phone displays an error message and dashed lines for metric values. However, the metrics will reappear when the connection is restored. If the connection is not restored, you can close the live metrics view from a button in the app.
