You can also use automated rules to trigger automated emails when specific conditions occur. These rules can help save time and cut down the need to monitor campaigns and make frequent, manual changes.

Add automated rules for Performance Max campaigns
Follow the steps below to add automated rules for Performance Max campaigns.
Through the "Asset groups" tab
- Go to Asset groups within the Campaigns menu

- On the “Asset groups” page, select the table icon
.
- Select at least one asset group and select Edit in the menu at the top of the screen.
- Select Create an automated rule.
- Fill out the relevant information on the slideout drawer, including Name, Owner, Action, Apply to (selected asset groups), Conditions, Frequency, and Email results.
- Select Save rule.
Through bulk actions
- Go to Rules within the Tools menu
.
- Select the plus button
and select + Asset group rules.
- Enter all the necessary details and select Save rule.
Add automated rules for App campaigns
Follow the steps below to add automated rules for App campaigns.
Through the "Ad groups" tab
- In your Google Ads account, select a App campaign.
- Go to Ad groups within the Campaigns menu
.
- Select at least one Ad group and select Edit above the table.
- Select Create an automated rule from the drop-down menu.
- Fill out the relevant information including “Name”, “Action (Apply to, Conditions, Action)”, “Frequency”, and “Email results”.
- Select Save rule.
Note: When you create an Ad group automated rule, App campaigns for engagement (ACe) is the only app campaign subtype that supports “Change ad group bids” in the drop-down menu under “Action”.
If your campaign subtype is either App campaigns for installs (ACi) or App campaigns for pre-registration (ACPre), and you try to set a specific bid or change the bid by a specific percentage, your automated rule will run but may bring the following results:
- No changes
- Finished with errors
Through bulk actions
- Go to Rules within the Tools menu
.
- Select the plus button
and select + Ad group rules.
- Fill out the relevant information including “Name”, “Action (Apply to, Conditions, Action)”, “Frequency”, and “Email results”.
- Select Save rule.
