Understand eligibility for Google One device-based offers

Google One device-based offers are special promotions. They provide benefits like a trial membership to Google One.

These offers link to specific devices and give users additional access to Google One features.

Understand general eligibility

Many offers are for new Google One members only or for those without an active membership. If you're an existing member, you might not qualify for certain offers:

  • Paid add-ons: If your Google One membership includes paid add-ons like YouTube Premium or Google Home Premium, all device-based offers won’t be compatible.
    • You may get this message:
      • "This offer isn't available for your current plan with add-on."
  • Higher-tier plan: Some offers are designed for lower-tier plans or encourage an upgrade.
    • If you’re already on a higher-tier plan, you may not be eligible for an offer that would result in a downgrade. If you downgrade your plan:
      • You'll lose the benefits associated with your current plan.
      • You may run out of storage if the offer is for a lower storage plan.
    • You may get this message:
      • "You're currently subscribed to a higher tier Google One plan. This offer is not available."
  • Previous redemption: If you have an active subscription and have already redeemed the offer from the same or a different partner, you can't redeem the offer again.
    • You may get this message:
      • "You’ve already used this offer. You can check out other Google One plans to find the right plan for you."

Verify device-specific eligibility

Device offers are tied to specific device models. Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements.

  • Unlocked or development builds: Devices with an unlocked bootloader are ineligible. Additionally, running development builds make your device ineligible.
    • Check if your device bootloader is unlocked and isn't on a dev build.
  • Minimum app version: Many offers require a minimum Google One or Gemini app version.
    • Make sure your device has the latest app updates installed.
  • Eligible device model: Always review the offer's terms and conditions. Offers often apply only to certain device models.
    • Confirm the terms include your device model as eligible.

Review geographic & account-based eligibility

  • Country or region availability: Device offers for Google One are often limited to specific countries or regions.
    • You may not qualify, if:
      • Google can’t determine your location.
      • You’re in an ineligible country or region.
  • Age-restrictions: Some offers and benefits have specific age requirements.
  • Third-party subscriptions: If you're subscribed to Google One through a third-party partner like your mobile carrier, you won’t be eligible for device-based offers provided by Google.
    • You must cancel your existing partner provided Google One subscription first.
  • Google Play account issues: Members with a Google Play account hold or other issues may be ineligible.
  • Family member status: Specific offers may only be available to the plan manager.
    • If you’re part of a Google family group but not the plan manager, you may be ineligible.

Troubleshoot common issues

If you have trouble redeeming a Google One device-based offer:

  • Consult offer terms and conditions: Always refer to the offer specific terms and conditions.
    • These provide detailed eligibility criteria, redemption window, and the most accurate information.
  • Update your apps software: Make sure your device has the latest Google One or Gemini app versions installed.
  • Verify your Google Account country or region settings: Your Google Account's country or region setting must match the offer’s availability.
  • Consider canceling partner provided subscription: You may subscribe to Google One through a third-party partner.
    • If you wish to redeem a device-specific offer, you must cancel first on the partner portal or contact your partner.
  • Contact Google One support: You’ve reviewed all criteria and troubleshooting steps.
    • If you still believe there’s an error, contact Google One support for personalized assistance.
