Valve has officially announced a new video-game console -- Stream Machine, designed to bring PC gaming to the living room. Set to launch in 2026, the Steam Machine blends console convenience with PC-grade performance, offering gamers a fresh alternative to traditional platforms like PlayStation and Xbox. The Steam Machine is a cube-shaped compact gaming console which is built to run on Valve’s SteamOS and play games directly from users’ Stream libraries. The gaming console is designed for plug and play use with televisions, making it ideal for gamers who want to experience PC-level performance without a full desktop setup.
Valve claims that the Steam Machine is six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. The gaming console is powered by semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU ans AMD RDNA3 GPU. Steam Machine also support 4K gaming at 60 FPS with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). The gaming console packs 16GB of RAM and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The company is giving two storage options for Steam Machine which includes — 512GB and 2TB.
Valve has also announced that the Stream Machine console will come with a revised Steam Controller which will offer improved ergonomics and haptic feedback. Along with this, Valve has also teased the Steam Frame which is a new VR headset designed to play both virtual and reality titles and standard Steam games on a virtual 2D screen.
