Ahn Sung Soo, CEO of Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo Hyun, has reportedly stepped down from his role, according to a TenAsia report published on Friday.
While the news comes just days after late star Kim Sae Ron's mother produced new 'evidence' of the actor's romance with her daughter while she was a 'minor', the report states that the resignation reportedly took place about two months ago.
Kim Soo Hyun's agency CEO quits
Ahn reportedly joined Gold Medalist earlier this year and remained with the company for approximately nine months. He was previously seen accompanying Kim Soo Hyun at the star’s press conference held on March 31 at the Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The vacancy left by his departure has now been filled by an executive who formerly worked at Hanwha, the report stated.
Second resignation amid controversy
Amid the ongoing legal battles and controversies surrounding the actor's personal life, another former CEO, identified only as A, who held the position around December of last year, had also stepped down early this year. This individual reportedly managed negotiations over damages related to Kim Sae Ron’s drunk driving incident and was said to have attempted to prevent additional financial penalties.
About the controversy
News of the second resignation this year comes amidst a heated court battle Kim Soo Hyun and the family of the late Kim Sae Ron. The controversy arises from allegations that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were in a relationship for six years, which allegedly began while the star was still a minor and in school.
Kim Soo Hyun initially denied the relationship, but later admitted to a brief romance, stating that they “dated after she became an adult.”
Kim Sae Ron's tragic death
Their romance was dragged into the spotlight following Kim Sae Ron’s tragic death on February 16, which coincided with Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday. The actress was reportedly found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
