Hi there, @cherrylb,
That’s great question, thanks for asking. Whether you need to list Jetpack in your Complianz banner depends on which Jetpack features you’re using.
- If you only use features that are strictly necessary (e.g. backups, security, uptime monitoring) and they don’t set cookies or track visitors, you likely don’t need to list Jetpack in the banner.
- If you use features that do collect personal data or set cookies (e.g. Jetpack Stats, ads, related posts, social sharing, etc.), then you must include Jetpack in your consent banner so visitors can make a choice before data is sent.
In all cases, your privacy and cookie policy should still mention Jetpack, even if you don’t add it to the consent banner. Jetpack provides tools to help with this here: https://jetpack.com/support/for-your-privacy-policy/.
In other words, to ensure compliance with GDPR and other privacy laws, it’s important to include all plugins and apps that collect or process personal data in your consent banner. Excluding Jetpack or Automattic from the Complianz list may not be advisable if they handle personal data on your site. For specific guidance, consider consulting with a legal expert familiar with GDPR requirements.
Hope that answers your question!
Hi @cherrylb,
Do you have updates about that, do you still need help? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
