Kitchen and dining gifts

This deep, utilitarian enameled cast iron Staub pan is something a new homeowner will appreciate -- and actually use -- for years to come. A durable skillet is one of those kitchen items they'll reach for frequently, if not daily, and they'll think of you every time their bacon turns out perfectly crispy or a warm berry crumble dazzles their guests. The deeper design reduces splatter on the stove, and it's sturdy enough to also go in the oven and broiler. While hand-washing is recommended, it's dishwasher-safe too for that extra layer of convenience. Bonus points for picking a color (there are 13 options!) to match their new kitchen decor.

What more could a new homeowner want than a way to make s'mores from the comfort of their kitchen table? This Solo Stove set ensures they can make s'mores indoors (or outdoors, for that matter) any time thanks to the food-safe, non-toxic, smoke-free and odorless fuel. You may just have to buy one for yourself while you're at it.

Ninja's fresh take on the air fryer earned the top spot on CNET's best air fryers of 2025 list and for good reason. Instead of the typical metal or nonstick cooking baskets, the Crispi uses a glass bowl, allowing the user to actually see what's happening as their food crisps.

As CNET's David Watsky puts it, "The Crispi has loads of power and is easy to clean, plus the cooking chamber doubles as a portable food container." Innovation and fewer dirty dishes? You can't go wrong.

Moving is exhausting and usually requires lots and lots of caffeine. That's where this fabulous Blue Bottle Coffee craft instant espresso comes in. Before you scoff at the thought of instant coffee, know that this isn't your generic grocery store instant powder. These coffee crystals are capable of producing high quality lattes in seconds, which is perfect for those much-needed lattes while moving and for hosting unexpected guests who are just dropping in to "help."

This Hamilton Beach stand mixer is a seven-speed powerhouse in a small package. It features a standard tilt-up head for easy bowl removal, a dough hook, whisk and flat beater to fulfill all their cooking needs.

As CNET's best rice cooker overall, the Tiger rice cooker can transform uncooked rice to fluffy goodness in 21 minutes. This machine has four simple controls: white rice, brown rice, slow cook/steam and synchronized cook settings that allow two things to cook at once.

Give a unique and lovely housewarming gift without breaking the bank. This sushi set includes two plates, two dipping dishes and two sets of chopsticks. Perfect for homemade or takeout sushi and sashimi.

When it comes to spending money on wine and wine glasses, the sky's the limit. If you're looking for a happy medium that doesn't break the bank but is a little more exciting than your average plain wine glass, this Pottery Barn confetti set fits the bill. We love that they're classy and a little whimsical too. And the fact that they're stemless is helpful when toasting around new couches and floors. Choose from blue, silver or gold confetti.

Candle and fragrance gifts

Part of moving into a new space is making it feel -- and smell -- like your own. Help the new homeowner in your life get started on doing just that with a Pura 4, a sleek fragrance diffuser perfect for kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms. This set comes with two fragrances, Coconut Calm and Sweet Tonka & Vanilla, for a cozy, relaxed "homebody" vibe. And if you're looking for a subscription-style gift, Pura offers four-, eight- and 12-week options with a 20% discount.

Homesick makes all kinds of nostalgic, unique candle scents and their New Home one is the perfect housewarming gift. The top scent notes are jasmine and cedarwood, and the burn time is up to 80 hours. They also sell a New Home Linen & Room Spray if you want to add more to your gift.

This oil diffuser by SpaRoom is CNET's best budget diffuser. While it doesn't have all the added features of high-end diffusers, this one still gets the job done by providing a great mist output for a medium-sized room. With a three-hour run time, an LED light that changes color and a 100-milliliter capacity, you can get a spa-like experience at home.

Everyone deserves to be pampered, and sometimes that happens in the shower. Help that new homeowner or renter get the relaxation they need by gifting them this aromatherapy variety pack. There's lavender, watermelon, grapefruit and other calming aromas that dissolve away the stress.

Gifts for entertaining

Hosting a dinner party in a new home is always exciting, but it can also be overwhelming when you're still sorting through boxes and stocking your kitchen. Instead of the recipient having to sweat all the details, gift them a ready-made pizza night that'll take the pressure off of hosting. The Harry & David includes two 10-inch organic pizza crusts, artisanal organic sauce, roasted peppers, pepperoni and two types of cheese -- enough to feed six to eight people and guarantee a fun, relaxing evening for everyone.

Everyone loves a good appetizer spread and Crate & Barrel's Merge set makes serving one easy and visually appealing. The sleek combination of porcelain plates and a hardwood tray will elevate any gathering, whether the new homeowner puts out a simple assortment of snacks or goes all-out with a charcuterie masterpiece.

Moving into a new home means plenty of new opportunities to entertain. This cheese board and knife set is perfect for the diehard Star Wars fan in your life. Find more great Star Wars gifts here.

Wine can be a difficult thing to buy people, especially if you don't know what someone likes. But you can still get something that will make wine enjoyable to drink. Grab the latest HyperChiller, HC3, that will chill wine in no time. And check out our list if you want more suggestions for the best gift for wine drinkers.

Gifts for storage and organization

Looking for a gift for someone who loves organization and is passionate about using safe, clean products? Caraway's new food storage sets may be right up their alley. They're an investment, but they're 100% non-toxic as well as fridge, freezer, microwave and oven-safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (plus they're dishwasher-friendly). They're designed to keep food fresher longer than traditional storage containers, and they're certainly more aesthetically pleasing, especially since they come in six sophisticated color options. This set comes with four small containers, ideal for meal prep, snacks and leftovers.

No one thinks about having a new address until they're already in the throes of mailing holiday cards. Lend an assist to your favorite new homeowner or renter by giving them this aesthetically pleasing, practical gift. It will save them from handwriting their new address a zillion times and you can rest assured they don't have one already.

There's nothing too fancy about these containers. This is a 18-piece glass container set that can be used to store meals or just hold food that's not in use. Whether you use these to freeze food or toss them in the microwave, all food will be good to go. Read more on why we love these containers in our round-up of the best meal prep containers.

Sometimes the best thing you can give a cash-strapped new homeowner or renter is money, so you can hand them a gift card for just about anywhere. But if you get them a gift card for Home Depot or Lowe's, they'll be grateful. A card like these can go a long way to jazz up a home.

Tech and gadget gifts

Amazon's Smart Thermostat is our favorite in that category, and it's surprisingly affordable. It has a clean, modern touchscreen design, and it's easy to use, whether you're adjusting the temperature at the thermostat, through the Alexa app or with Alexa voice commands with a compatible Alexa-enabled speaker or display. It earned a CNET Editors' Choice award for best value smart thermostat.

Indoor gardens like the AeroGarden Sprout can work well for people who don't have a green thumb, as well as for budding chefs looking for fresh herbs to add to their dinner. This AeroGarden has a light hood that grows everything five times as fast and has simple controls that anyone can use.

This Eufy RoboVac is our best budget vacuum for picking up low-pile, medium-pile and pet hair fairly well on hardwood floors and carpets. While the navigation is not as good as the Roborock S7, it still gets the job done. The Eufy RoboVac can be connected to a wireless network and accept commands via smartphone or voice when paired with a smart home speaker and touch. Read our Eufy RoboVac 25C review.

The spherical, 5th-gen Amazon Echo is an easy entry into smart home gadgets. This version offers the usual Alexa smarts in a great-looking gadget, and the sound quality is a nice step up from the smaller Echo Dot, especially if you pair two of them together for a stereo setup

Bedding and decor gifts

Is the new homeowner in your life a dog lover and perhaps a fan of flowers too? These stoneware dog vases are just the thing to make them smile. Choose from four beloved breeds: border collie, beagle, corgi and bloodhound. You truly can't go wrong, even if their dog is a different breed. And at $18 each, you could pair it with a few stems of their favorite blooms to make an extra thoughtful gift.

You can't go wrong with gifting someone a cozy blanket, especially when it's as soft and luxurious as this one from Barefoot Dreams. Plus, it's machine washable. The waffle knit is also great for use most of the year, as it's not so thick and warm that it needs to be stored after the chilly winter. Even when it's not in use, it can add texture and personality to a couch or chair in a common room.

This Jonathan Alder model is a nice neutral but graphic choice for a rug. Once you choose your rug style (area, runner or round), you can get it made with a classic or cushioned rug pad, which is best for standing and bending. My rug is larger, so it's more costly, but the 3-by-5-feet version is just as nice to spice up a room, and it's affordable. Ruggable models like this one are machine washable -- that's a lifesaver if you spill something on it.

Sweat-wicking and breathable, these bamboo sheets feel great against your skin, so you can comfortably sleep through the night. This set has two pillowcases, a top sheet and fitted sheet from twin to split king sizes. These sheets are made to never pill and come in seven different colors. Queen-sized sheets are on sale for around $250, which is a great deal. I absolutely love these sheets and find it hard to sleep on anything else.
