Qualification to be the Drupal CMS trial partner
Drupal CMS is an important change in the way we build Drupal, focusing on making the power of Drupal easier and more accessible to new audiences.
As a result, having a trial experience which requires no locally installation is an important part of marketing Drupal to the world.
The Drupal Association is best equipped to provide that trial experience by engaging one or more partners to create a trial.
Partner requirements
To submit a bid to become the Drupal CMS trial partner, an organization must:
- Have a documented history of contribution, achieving and maintaining at least Drupal Certified Partner - Platinum status.
- Have a documented history of material support for the community.
- Have a documented history of financial support for the Drupal Association.
- Meet the requirements for the trial experience as documented below.
- Offer a competitive bid for exclusive placement.
Each of these factors may be weighted differently based on priorities set by the Drupal Association. In general, contribution history and quality of the trial experience are the most important factors.
Requirements for the trial experience
The partner's proposed trial experience must meet or exceed certain requirements:
-
The trial experience shall be product-first, meaning:
-
it is not branded as a vendor offering but is instead branded as Drupal, and
-
the objective is to solely show off the capabilities of DrupalCMS, not the vendor, and
-
any added content or 'tour' functionality in the trial must have approval of the Drupal Association.
-
-
The trial experience will be hosted at a Drupal Association designated domain name.
-
It should be possible to use the Drupal installer
-
It shall be possible to use the full functionality of Project Browser, including downloading modules and recipes from drupal.org if they are not already in the codebase OR a preinstalled selection of modules and recipes must be available on the filesystem and installable by project browser.
-
-
The number of steps/clicks for a user to go from submitting the user information capture form to accessing the trial shall be the minimum possible while still adhering to privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
-
The trial experience period must be at least 4 hours. Vendor may wish to limit it to 4 hours so as to make resources available for others. However, it shall be possible for users to extend or repeat the trial experience if they so wish.
-
Feedback from supporting trial users including subjective reports and telemetry data will be shared back to the Drupal Association.
-
Partner vendor shall commit to making regular, monthly improvements to the trial experience, e.g. to match/improve upon another provider's trial experience.
-
The Drupal Association owns all user information and licenses them to the Partner Vendor, exclusively for the Purpose set forth herein. The vendor must provide an automated and secure method to transmit this information.
-
A process shall be defined by the Drupal Association for routing leads to other DCPs. (In other words, if the lead is not qualified for the vendor, it will be marked as such and provided to others).
-
Vendor and Drupal Association will coordinate on communication with the trial users.
-
It must be possible for a user to export their trial site for installation in a local development environment or on another hosting provider, e.g. by using the results of drush site-archive.
Bidding process
The Drupal Association will choose when to open the process to partner bidding, providing a minimum of two months notice to any current partner if the process will go to open bid rather than renewal.
At this time, the Drupal Association will publish a request for proposals, and qualifying partners may submit.
