A perioperative nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who specializes in caring for patients before, during, and after surgery. Their role spans the entire surgical process, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and a smooth procedure. At MedRVA Healthcare, each surgical patient is cared for by several PeriOp nurses, a dedicated team working together to deliver safe, high-quality care every step of the way. Perioperative Nurses Week (November 9–15) is the perfect time to recognize everyone involved in surgical care, not just the RNs in the OR, but the full perioperative team that supports patients before, during, and after surgery.
