  • “Gobble, gobble, gobble” — that’s turkey talk for how extra thankful we’re feeling today. This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the chance to help our community be well, get well, stay well…and Eat Well. Last week, we continued our tradition of distributing free turkeys and fresh produce to our neighbors in Camden and Willingboro. This impactful event is possible thanks to the generosity of many kind-hearted donors, including Dr. Eric Sztejman and his family, whose passion and advocacy inspires us all. Thank you to everyone who dropped by this special event. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with health and happiness!

  • It’s officially the season of giving. And boy, did our colleagues understand the assignment.   Our home health team handcrafted 13 Thanksgiving baskets, complete with seasonal food for their patients in need. The Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes professional governance team teamed up with Cathedral Kitchen to serve food to our neighbors in Camden. And colleagues from Virtua Voorhees and Marlton hospitals joined forces to prepare over 250 sandwiches and snack bags to support those in need throughout South Jersey.   Also, can we take a moment to talk about how much we adore all the Friendsgiving celebrations taking place throughout our campuses?   From all of us at Virtua, thank you for demonstrating what it truly means to be Here for Good.

Virtua Marlton and Virtua Voorhees Hospitals received “A” ratings, while Virtua Mount Holly, Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes, and Virtua Willingboro Hospitals each earned a solid “B.”   “At Virtua, our dedicated professionals place the safety of every patient and team member at the heart of everything we do,” Jennifer Khelil DO, MBA, EVP and chief clinical officer. “The Leapfrog Safety Grades offer valuable insights that help us continually elevate the quality of care we provide.” Read more: https://bit.ly/4puisjp

  • Say hello to our new gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Justin Chura! Known for his kind, patient approach, Dr. Chura takes the time to truly get to know his patients and what matters most to them. He believes in partnering with each person to create a treatment plan that supports their personal goals — every step of the way. When he’s not caring for patients, you might find him practicing Krav Maga or tending to his 12 backyard chickens. That's right, chickens! How cool is that? Dr. Chura is now seeing patients at Virtua’s Gynecologic Oncology locations in Swedesboro, Pennsauken, and Voorhees. Join us in welcoming him to the team in the comments below!

  • At Virtua Health, our mission goes beyond delivering excellent care — it’s about seeing the person behind the patient. It’s about lifting up the human spirit that underlies every diagnosis, every treatment plan, and every interaction. This edition of our Champions of Humanity newsletter explores why showing up with empathy matters — and how our colleagues bring that purpose to life every single day.

  • They say a good doctor can change your day, but a great doctor can change your life. And so we wanted to take a moment to recognize these life-changing Virtua doctors.   Say hello to our 2025 Virtua Medical Staff Awardees. • You know Emmitt Smith as the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, a Hall of Famer, three-time Super Bowl champion, and one of the most accomplished athletes in history. And while Dennis Pullin — a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan — certainly touches on football, their conversation on the Here for Good Podcast goes much deeper. They explore leadership, purpose, mental health in the NFL, community impact, philanthropy, and Emmitt’s personal commitment to prostate cancer awareness following his father’s experience with the disease. • If we get a chance to wear matching outfits, you better believe we're gonna take it. Our Virtua Thoracic Surgery team is matching for a mission this Lung Cancer Awareness Month — reminding our community that early detection saves lives. A low-dose CT chest scan is one of the most effective ways to catch lung cancer early. It’s quick, painless, and takes just a few minutes. The scan creates detailed images of the lungs, helping doctors spot problems long before symptoms appear.
