According to Deadline, Peacock has canceled Rian Johnson's whodunnit Poker Face after two seasons. However, Johnson still has plans for the show moving forward — ones that involve recasting lead star Natasha Lyonne entirely.

As Deadline reports, Johnson has started shopping Poker Face around to other broadcasters, with the help of Ram Bergman, his T-Street producing partner; Lyonne, who also served as an executive producer on Poker Face; and MRC, one of the production companies behind Poker Face.

Johnson is looking for a two-season deal, with a catch. In these next two seasons, Lyonne would be out as "human lie detector" Charlie Cale, and Peter Dinklage would be taking over the role.

In a statement to Deadline, Johnson and Lyonne said, "We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the season two finale. We love our Poker Face and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway."

If given the opportunity to continue Poker Face, Johnson plans to keep recasting the role of Charlie every two seasons, allowing other actors their chance to sink their teeth into the role. Think of it as Columbo meets Doctor Who.

Poker Face Season 2 remained one of Peacock's most-watched series, although its numbers were down from Season 1. The series as a whole has received critical acclaim and earned a slew of Emmy nominations, with Judith Light winning for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2023.
