'His Dark Materials' explores the unknown in stunning Season 2 trailer

It's nearly time to reenter the realm of His Dark Materials.

During the series' Comic-Con@Home panel on Thursday, fans caught a stunning glimpse of the second installment in HBO's popular fantasy series, rumored to air this fall. Based on the second book in Sir Philip Pullman's best-selling trilogy, titled "The Subtle Knife," Season 2 will pick up following the betrayal of Lyra (Dafne Keen) by her father Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) as she grieves the death of Roger and ventures into the mysterious city of Cittàgaze.

The trailer gives us a look at this strange, new world— it's as breathtaking as we'd hoped — plus sneak peeks at newcomers John Parry (Andrew Scott), Ruta Skadi (Jade Anouka), and Dr. Mary Malone (Simone Kirby). Of course, Lord Boreal (Ariyon Bakare), Will (Amir Wilson), Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda), and Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) make their returns as well.

Now, can we get that release date? Our daemons are getting impatient.
