Re: [Matplotlib-users] Worries with ~/.matplotlib and fonts

There is a fix for this in SVN in r8712 that will make it into the next 
release.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you can safely delete the font cache 
file in

~/.matplotlib/fontList.cache
