the PHP/Java Bridge library 5.x is for PHP 5 and above.


If you still use PHP 4 please use PHP/Java Bridge version 4.x or 3.x instead. 

However, since PHP/Java Bridge version 4.x is not available for download anymore, you must check out the appropriate branch from the CVS.
