Is there way to keep the Java engine loaded in PHP so that it doesn't have to run every time? I'm currently using the PHP class implementation. -- Thank you, Micah Gersten onShore Networks Internal Developer http://www.onshore.com |

I want send a variable that reference a Java object to a function, I tried
it on different ways, but I can not.
$map = new Java('java.util.HashMap');
$map->put('country', 'Columbia');
$this->printMapFromPHP($map);
// Receive the variable by reference
function printMapFromPHP(&$map){
// try to print, but not print
}
Thanks in advance.

To reference static methods, you could use:
$STATIC_REFERENCE = Java('package.ClassName');
$STATIC_REFERENCE->staticMetod(...);
To create an object (an instance of a class), you must use the "*new*"
keyword:
$object = new Java('package.ClassName');
So, you can create a static reference to the "Class" class and the same for
others.
$CLASS = Java('java.lang.Class');
$driver = $CLASS->forName("...")->newInstance();
I think that you don't need typecasting, remember, PHP is a dynamic
language.

Thank you for the quick reply.
How would I do something like this with typecasting?
Driver d =
(Driver)Class.forName("com.ddtek.jdbc.sequelink.SequeLinkDriver").newInstance();

$dm = Java("java.sql.DriverManager");
$con
=$dm->getConnection(\"jdbc:sequelink://fmServer:2399;serverDataSource=Clients\",
$username, $password");

I've installed the package and successfully tested it, my question is this: Why do I have to include the Java.inc? Specifically I've installed what I believe to be the standalone, 3.2.1 version on windows server 2003. I don't have to include the Java.inc. I have installed php-java-bridge from source 5.2.0 on ubuntu, which requires this Java.inc. I also need the java_autoload statement which comes from the test.php file. It is working sufficiently enough for me right now, but could anyone clarify? scott |

I can now create the JDBC connection in PHP, but it doesn't do anything
and just waits there.
Here is the code:
$con = new Java("DriverManager.getConnection(\"jdbc:sequelink://fmServer:2399;serverDataSource=Clients\",$username,$password);");

Hello Jost,
I think I am beginning to see what was happening. At the time this
starting happening I was editing, rebuilding and testing in a very tight
pattern. I suspect that I left some connections open and then tried to
open other connections before gc could clean them up. Also, Ithink I had
an unhandled exception going on as well.
I am going to try putting the close connection in the finally clause and
beefing up the error handling. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

are you sure that the loaded version of the class U2 has the method
PbrGetMgrList? What does echo java_inspect($yourU2Object) display?

It won't happen again unless you change U2.class (or the Java library
archive which contains U2.class).

Hi, if you copy the JDBC driver to Java's repository (usually /usr/share/java/ext or /usr/java/default/jre/lib/ext), you can use the JDBC driver through the DriverManager as usual. You need a wrapper class only if you load the driver from the DynamicClassLoader (this is because the DriverManager is loaded from the system class loader, which cannot access the DynamicClassLoader at run-time).
