Animation Workflow fromworkflow between Blender toand Mecanim in Unity 3d

I've recently started learning Unity and one of the things that's really really slowing me down is not. Not being able to add custom animations to the standard FBX'sFBXs you get from unity'sUnity's app store is really really slowing me down. When I import themone into blenderBlender, it doesn't bring anybrings none of the animations with it,. I also purchased 3d3D Studio Max and, while a little better its, it's still a steep learning curve.

WhatCan I wanted to know is if there was a way of creatingcreate an animation in Blender or 3d3D Studio Max and then applying that animationapply it to an existing model in Mecanim model?

Do I need to physicallymanually create and rig a basic model, import it, then move it'sits animation to another character, or is there an easier way?

Thanks

Marc
