No. I've come to believe that extreme modularity is a necessary ingredient to great software engineering. See my 20+ ready-to-use libraries in Quicklisp for explorations of this concept.

Why are there five tests

Why not? I had initially removed the unit tests directory from my usual template, but then I could not just (asdf:test-system "fakenil") (which also loads or reloads the project first if necessary) like I can do for all my other projects, which was extremely annoying. Instead of just adding an empty unit tests template, I thought I might as well write some tests, since it's cost-free. (edit: As an experienced programmer, I'm also wary of the possibility of making extremely stupid, embarrassing mistakes in the most trivial of code, and the trivial unit tests help reassure me that I did not make any mistakes.)

(edit: Also note that the only time I ever removed one of my libraries from Quicklisp was the single worst decision of my career. To this day, Loopless has been one of my most popular projects ever even though it was newb code that I killed way too early. This has been a big factor leading to my 5 years hiatus, since I had no semi-satisfying way to loop/map anymore. So please don't encourage project suicides just because you don't understand their value.)
