Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data

Question

I am developing an application in ASP.NET MVC 5 and using the code first approach.

When I try to enable migration then it is throwing an error. I found already MySQL.Data.dll in references. What could be the issue?

in your web.config:

<DbProviderFactories>
  <remove invariant="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" />
  <add name="MySQL Data Provider" invariant="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" description=".Net Framework Data Provider for MySQL" type="MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlClientFactory, MySql.Data, Version=6.9.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d" />
</DbProviderFactories>

Version set to 6.9.3.0 but in your bin folder files MySql.Data.dll and MySql.Data.Entity.EF6.dll has version 6.8.3.0

Modify your web config to use proper version or update your dlls from packages folder.

The root of your problem is when you, using nuget, installed MySql.Data.Entities it replaced your newer version of MySql.Data with older, but web config stay unchanged.

I changed the version 6.8.3.0 in webconfig.

but this i am getting this exception. No Entity Framework provider found for the ADO.NET provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'. Make sure the provider is registered in the 'entityFramework' section of the application config file. See go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=260882 for more information.

not helped? Then undo your changes and replace file in bin folder for one with correct version

I have the same experience as you. And I modify the mysql.data Version from the Web.Config of """" to be matched the MySql.Data.dll and MySql.Data.Entity.EF6.dll version.succeed.

Check the version of the dll under the References in your project. Remove it and add
