I am using Spring boot and am trying to access data in mongo db using Spring Data.

For that, in the application.properties which is in the same package as Application.java

spring.data.mongodb.host=localhost
spring.data.mongodb.database=test
spring.data.mongodb.port=27017

The list of dependencies in the pom.xml is as follows :

<dependencies>
        <!-- Spring Boot -->
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-jetty</artifactId>
            <!-- Added by me -->
         <scope>provided</scope>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-boot-starter</artifactId>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-test</artifactId>
            <scope>test</scope>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
            <exclusions>
                <exclusion>
                    <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
                    <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-tomcat</artifactId>
                </exclusion>
            </exclusions>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-data-jpa</artifactId>
        </dependency>
        <!-- Hibernate validator -->
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
            <artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
        </dependency>
        <!-- HSQLDB -->
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.hsqldb</groupId>
            <artifactId>hsqldb</artifactId>
            <scope>runtime</scope>
        </dependency>
        <!-- Guava -->
        <dependency>
            <groupId>com.google.guava</groupId>
            <artifactId>guava</artifactId>
            <version>${guava.version}</version>
        </dependency>
        <!-- Java EE -->
        <dependency>
            <groupId>javax.inject</groupId>
            <artifactId>javax.inject</artifactId>
            <version>1</version>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.jboss.resteasy</groupId>
            <artifactId>jaxrs-api</artifactId>
            <version>2.3.0.GA</version>
        </dependency>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
            <artifactId>spring-data-mongodb</artifactId>
            <version>1.2.3.RELEASE</version>
        </dependency>
    </dependencies>

Is there any configuration that I am missing ?

  • why are you not using spring-boot-starter-data-mongodb? You shouldn't fix the version like you do as Spring Boot provide them for you. Commented Dec 15, 2015 at 8:43

You haven't mentioned the spring-boot-starter version but problem is that it needs class RepositoryConfigurationDelegate in order to use spring-data features and which is present in spring-data-commons jar and its not there in your POM. Three possible solutions :-

a) Use spring-data-mongodb-1.8.1-RELEASE.jar as it internally includes the spring-data-commons-1.11.1-RELEASE.jar OR

b) Include spring-data-commons jar along with your spring-data-mongodb-1.2.3-RELEASE.jar OR

c) Just use spring-boot-starter-data-mongodb which will resolve all (data-mongodb, data-commons) needed dependencies.

Even after adding the dependency : <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId> <artifactId>spring-boot-starter-data-mongodb</artifactId> </dependency>, I am getting the same exception
Pls share your updated pom (complete) & confirm if you can see both spring-data-mongodb & spring-data-commons getting resolved to your project classpath along with respective versions.
