I have a datatable with select extension and a button to select all rows, and first cell to select/deselect specific row and the problem is that I can't do any action for few rows.

Can anybody tell me how to disable row selection for row based on cell data?

Add class (i.e. ignoreme) on the specific rows tr elements according to your business logic. On row select event, check for that specific class and then call deselect method to ignore selection.

The following is my implementation that can be used with ajax populated data and based on data identifiers. It also uses the select extension with checkboxes. Just replace the "unselectables_IDs" var by a dynamic identifiers array retrieved from your json.

Just return false in the selection event. It will stop selection of that particular row.

You can get the data from table row data() property

I tried this and it didn't seem to work for me. The row was still selected. I'm on an older version though, so this may be something added later. Calling dt.row('.selected').deselect() did work for me though, in case that helps others stuck on older versions.

I know that the question has already been responded to, but I have a better solution for this: Simply change

  select: {
    style: 'multi'
  }

to this:

  select: {
    style: 'single'
  }
