c=1
while c<5 :
    print("."*c+"\r",end='')
    sleep(2)

  • Because the \r brings the cursor back to the beginning of the line, and so when python exits, or the next print statement happens, it overwrites your output. You're using that feature yourself to write over the same line at each iteration. Commented Mar 29 at 14:59
  • I can see output is 4 dots. What is the issue here? Commented Mar 29 at 15:01

  • My apologies. I did not test on VSCODE. I tested using command line. Commented Mar 29 at 15:27

    It would help if you explained exactly how you are running this code, and showed us exactly what the final output is. Commented Mar 29 at 15:45
