I have a table within a sheet for inventory. I have conditional formatting that will check the stock levels and highlight the row red when it's 0. This works perfectly.

However, when the table expands past the initial range input, it doesn't appear to continue the formatting to these additional rows. For example - it currently checks from A2 - A39. I created a new row in the table - A40 - and made a test item, with a stock of 0. It would not highlight this red. I went to the conditional formatting, and low-and-behold, it did not expand the range upon table expansion.

There doesn't seem to be a way to use a named table either at this time, which is another major disappointment.

Does anyone know how to have the conditional formatting automatically apply to new rows in the table?

  • Make apply range static like $A$1:$A$1000 Commented Nov 25 at 4:40
