I am using pytorch and installed it follow these instructions:

pipenv install git+https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch#egg=pytorch
pipenv install git+https://github.com/pytorch/vision#egg=torchvision

in order to install pytorch with pipenv. This runs some of the examples, but for instance, this MNIST code:

from __future__ import print_function
import argparse
import torch
import torch.nn as nn
import torch.nn.functional as F
import torch.optim as optim
from torchvision import datasets, transforms
from torch.autograd import Variable

Does not run giving the error:

RuntimeError: PyTorch was compiled without NumPy support

Running:

pipenv install numpy

does not resolve the error. Is there a way to use pipenv and install pytorch with numpy support?

I managed to get it. I slightly changed:

pipenv install git+https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch#egg=pytorch
pipenv install git+https://github.com/pytorch/vision#egg=torchvision

To:

pipenv install http://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu91/torch-0.3.1-cp36-cp36m-linux_x86_64.whl
pipenv install git+https://github.com/pytorch/vision#egg=torchvision

The first command is what pytorch.org recomends when I select Linux, pip, python 3.6, and CUDA 9.1. For some reason, pipenv install torchvision doesn't work.

For reference here is the resulting Pipfile:

[[source]]

url = "https://pypi.python.org/simple"
verify_ssl = true
name = "pypi"

"633048b" = {file = "http://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu91/torch-0.3.1-cp36-cp36m
-linux_x86_64.whl"}
torchvision = {git = "https://github.com/pytorch/vision"}
