I like to have my Copilot to be open in a window on the second monitor.

The problem is, when I try to add files to chat context through 'Context menu > Add File to Chat', it opens a chat in the sidebar and creates a new chat.

It's annoying and ruins the workflow.

When I press CtrlShifti, chat opens in sidebar too. Despite the fact that the command for this is CtrlAlti.

I'm running VS Code version 1.104 (Windows 11).

Also, have you tried 'dragging' the sidebar (by clicking/holding its title) to your second monitor desktop? Commented Sep 13 at 15:42

Migrating OP's temporary solution from an edit to the question to an answer:

Downgrading to version 1.103 and downgrading the Copilot extension version fixed the issue.
