I am trying to create snow being blown over a snowy surface all as one texture, but I'm struggling to get the desired result, and I believe it's down to an error with my masking.

My goals are:

  1. Have three layers. (from highest to lowest)
    a) Top layer of snow blown in the wind.
    b) A shadow layer to create some false depth.
    c) Base layer of static snow.
  2. I want the wind to reshape itself.
  3. I want the wind to move laterally across the surface.

I am currently just using generation in the graph editor to drive the lateral movement and an empty rotating to drive the reshaping.

Overall, I'm favouring ease and performance over fidelity of the texture. But I'm open to any bonus ideas that I could implement.

I will link my current node tree and a rough gif to illustrate my goals.
