The answer word has been split into three parts.

Below are the clues for each, listed in no particular order.

  • Bambi’s mother, musically
  • kitchen weapon
  • Atlas, but solar

Hope it’s not all Greek to you.

I think the intended answer is:

PANDORA - the first human woman in Greek myth (hence the 'Hope it's not all Greek to you' line), responsible for opening a jar (often thought of as a 'box', as per the title) which then released all the evils of humanity.

Meaning the clues should be resolved in the following order:

kitchen weapon

PAN - a heavy kitchen implement which could cause some damage (think slapstick comedy scenes);

Bambi’s mother, musically

DO - Bambi is a deer; Bambi's mother, being a female deer, is a DOE; and in The Sound of Music, the lyric from the Do-Re-Mi song is "DO - a deer, a female deer..."

Atlas, but solar

RA - in Greek mythology, Atlas was the Titan condemned to hold the heavens on his shoulders for an eternity. Thinking instead of gods in myth who are connected with the Sun ('solar'), one potential is the Egyptian sun god, Ra. In imagery, Ra is often depicted as supporting the Sun with his head:

Ra, supporting the Sun

Putting this all together, we have:

PAN+DO+RA = PANDORA, a character with connections both to Greece and to boxes, both mentioned in this puzzle.

$\begingroup$ You got it. reveal spoilerThere is a tiny hint you did not describe: "hope" in the last sentence. hope is the single positive element left inside the jar after Pandora unleashes all the world's evils $\endgroup$ Commented Nov 23 at 23:43

This is inside the box: (I hope)

  • Bambi’s mother, musically

Do, a deer, a female deer

  • kitchen weapon

Pan, much overused as a slapstick weapon

  • Atlas, but solar

Ra, the Egyptian god that moves the sun across the sky

which together form

Pandora

a somewhat famous letter of things out of boxes.
