I have a project with two polygon layers : "Habitat" and "Flore". This project is prepared to be used in QField by botanists.

This is what I want for the overlapping of these layers :

Habitat : The layer must not overlap itself. It can overlap "Flore".

Flore : The layer can overlap itself or "Habitat".

I want these settings to be available in QGis and in QField.

The problem I have :

  • If I set 'Avoid overlapping', this setting applies to "Flore" as well.
  • If I set an advanced configuration, only avoiding overlapping for "Habitats", I cannot digitize "Flore" polygons over "Habitats" polygons.

Illustration of both situations (Symbology is transparent to highlight overlap) :

Situation 1 : Avoid overlap on active layer Situation 2 : Andvanced settings

In QGis, no problem : I can easily switch settings. But in QField I don't have this possibility.

2 Questions :

  • Is there a way to make a unique setting in QGis that follows the respective specifications for both layers ?
  • Is there a way in QField to switch on and off the overlapping setting? I have tried many things but maybe I missed something.

QGis 3.34.15-Prizren

QField on Windows 3.4.2 Ebo

QField on Android 3.5.4 Fangorn

  • I don't think QField can handle this. You could either (1) turn off snapping when digitizing Flore. Or (2) prepare two project (qgs) files, one with each snapping set-up. But you would have the inconvenience of closing and opening the relevant project for each scenario. Commented Apr 9 at 17:49
