I have small Rest app with Lombok and Mapstruct, it works fine, but I can not add Spring security. As soon as I add the security as a dependency, it cannot find implementations of mapstruct generated classes. Just to mention again, it works fine up to the point when I add security dependency. Even IntelliJ shows an error on auto-wiring the constructor. I'm using the maven, when I check Target folder, I see generated implementations, but it will not autowire them. I have annotation processing enabled, lombok and mapstruct plugins installed.

Service implementation class:

package com.smort.services;

import com.smort.api.v1.mapper.CategoryMapper;
import com.smort.api.v1.model.CategoryDTO;
import com.smort.repositories.CategoryRepository;
import org.springframework.stereotype.Service;

import java.util.List;
import java.util.stream.Collectors;

@Service
public class CategoryServiceImpl implements CategoryService {

    private final CategoryMapper categoryMapper;
    private final CategoryRepository categoryRepository;

    public CategoryServiceImpl(CategoryMapper categoryMapper, CategoryRepository categoryRepository) {
        this.categoryMapper = categoryMapper;
        this.categoryRepository = categoryRepository;
    }

    @Override
    public List<CategoryDTO> getAllCategories() {

        return categoryRepository.findAll()
                .stream()
                .map(categoryMapper::categoryToCategoryDTO)
                .collect(Collectors.toList());
    }

    @Override
    public CategoryDTO getCategoryByName(String name) {
        return categoryMapper.categoryToCategoryDTO(categoryRepository.findByName(name));
    }
}

As soon as I add spring security, the categoryMapper dependency in constructor turns red. It says that it can not find the bean to autowire

Mapper Class:

package com.smort.api.v1.mapper;

import com.smort.api.v1.model.CategoryDTO;
import com.smort.domain.Category;
import org.mapstruct.Mapper;
import org.mapstruct.factory.Mappers;

@Mapper
public interface CategoryMapper {

    CategoryMapper INSTANCE = Mappers.getMapper(CategoryMapper.class);

    CategoryDTO categoryToCategoryDTO(Category category);

    Category categoryDTOToCategory(CategoryDTO categoryDTO);

}

Generated implementation:

package com.smort.api.v1.mapper;

import com.smort.api.v1.model.CategoryDTO;
import com.smort.domain.Category;

public class CategoryMapperImpl implements CategoryMapper {
    public CategoryMapperImpl() {
    }

    public CategoryDTO categoryToCategoryDTO(Category category) {
        if (category == null) {
            return null;
        } else {
            CategoryDTO categoryDTO = new CategoryDTO();
            categoryDTO.setId(category.getId());
            categoryDTO.setName(category.getName());
            return categoryDTO;
        }
    }

    public Category categoryDTOToCategory(CategoryDTO categoryDTO) {
        if (categoryDTO == null) {
            return null;
        } else {
            Category category = new Category();
            category.setId(categoryDTO.getId());
            category.setName(categoryDTO.getName());
            return category;
        }
    }
}

  • I can not understand this, When i removed comment from pom, <compilerArgs> <compilerArg> -Amapstruct.defaultComponentModel=spring <!-- generise spring komponente --> </compilerArg> </compilerArgs> , it works. I see why that causes error. Just don't understand why it was working before I added security Commented Jan 6, 2019 at 13:09

    You are now mixing two models: the CategoryMapper INSTANCE = Mappers.getMapper(CategoryMapper.class); implies a default component model. Did you try to use the componentModel parameter in the @Mapper annotation in stead of the compilerArgs? (you can leave out the INSTANCE = part.. Commented Jan 7, 2019 at 9:06
  • I added the comment "<!-- generise spring komponente -->" in my POM, and that caused errors. I'm just curious as to why it was working until I added security? Commented Jan 8, 2019 at 17:24

It was just comment <!-- generise spring komponente --> in the wrong place
